54 th Annual Chicano Moratorium Commemoration at ELAC

LA Supervisor Hilda Solis talks about the Chicano Moratorium:

This past Saturday, I joined the 54th Anniversary Chicano Moratorium commemoration at East Los Angeles College (ELAC) where we remembered a pivotal moment in the struggle for civil rights and social justice.

The Chicano Moratorium shone a light on the disproportionate impact of the Vietnam War on our community and raised crucial questions about civil rights, representation, and social justice. It was a testament to the courage and resilience of those who stood up for what was right, demanding an end to inequality and advocating for a better future.

As we reflected on this significant anniversary, we honored the legacy of the activists and leaders who paved the way for change. Their voices and actions continue to inspire us in our ongoing efforts to build a more just and equitable society.

In remembering the Chicano Moratorium, we renew our commitment to addressing the challenges that remain. We must continue to confront systemic inequities and strive to ensure that every voice is heard and valued. Our work is far from over, but together, we can create a future where justice and opportunity are truly available to all.
