LOS ANGELES – Angelenos should be aware that the National Weather Service announced a Particularly Dangerous Situation in certain areas of the City and County from 4:00 AM Tuesday to 12:00 PM Wednesday, with wind gusts expected to reach 45-70 miles per hour. The City has deployed resources to be prepared ahead of the extreme weather conditions. Please stay vigilant and be ready to evacuate if needed. Red flag parking restrictions are in effect. What You Need To Know:
- City Disaster Recovery Center OpeningTuesday at 1:00 PM – The City’s Disaster Recovery Center will open tomorrow at the UCLA Research Park, formerly known as the Westside Pavilion at 10850 Pico Blvd, at the corner of Westwood & Pico. After tomorrow, it will operate from 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM, 7 days a week for the next several weeks. An additional Disaster Recovery Center will be located in the City of Pasadena at 3035 E. Foothill Blvd. These centers will:
- Help those who have lost vital records (birth certificates, death certificates, driver’s licenses, social security documentation).
- Help those who have experienced loss or damage to their homes and businesses apply for disaster relief loans.
- Provide referrals for mental health counseling and other services.

- N95 Masks Available – The South Coast Air Quality Management District is recommending that Angelenos wear well-fitting, medical grade masks while outside when air quality is poor, or if you smell smoke or see ash. The City of Los Angeles has distributed N95 masks throughout Los Angeles Public Libraries, Los Angeles Recreation Centers, Los Angeles Senior Centers and local nonprofits. - Additional Health Resources – The City has prepared a guide of additional health and safety resources including mental health services on its emergency recovery website.
- Fire Investigations – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ National Response Team has been deployed to investigate the cause of the Pacific Palisades fire. As of 6:45 PM the following progress has been made on the fires affecting our region:
- Palisades Fire 14% Contained
- The fire remains an active emergency, having spread more than 23,713 acres with 14% containment.
- There still remains a potential to threaten life and property and evacuation orders remain in effect.
- Thousands of firefighters are on scene deploying resources including heavy duty trucks and equipment as well as air support.
- The City continues to provide shelter and resources to impacted families. The evacuation zone map is available here.
- Firefighters and first responders are the only personnel allowed in the evacuation area.
- Hurst Fire 97% Contained
- There is significant progress in containing the Hurst Fire thanks to our firefighters who continue to marshall resources to extinguish this wildfire which has burned 799 acres.
- All evacuation orders in the vicinity of this fire have been lifted.
- Kenneth Fire 100% Contained
- Firefighters worked around the clock to bring this fire to 100% containment at 1,052 acres.
- The location continues to be monitored for flare ups.
- Archer Fire100% contained
- Thanks to the heroic efforts of LAFD firefighters, the Archer Fire in Granada Hills is fully contained at 19 acres.
- The location continues to be monitored for flare ups.
- Eaton Fire 33% Contained
- The Eaton fire affecting the communities of Altadena, Pasadena, Sierra Madre, and La Cañada-Flintridge remains an active emergency, having spread more than 14,117 Acres.

Restoring Power Outages:
As of 7:00 PM, LADWP has restored power to all customers affected by last week’s windstorm, except those in the fire threat areas where fire authorities have requested LADWP de-energize our power lines. This affects approximately 17,000 customers in Tier 2 and Tier 3 High Fire Risk areas. LADWP crews will begin to restore power to these customers once clearance is received from Fire Authorities to re-energize the circuits and assess the lines for hazards.
No-Burn Day Alert:
South Coast AQMD also has extended a residential No-Burn Day alert from Sunday, January 12 through Monday, January 13, 2025 at 11:59 PM for all those living in the South Coast Air Basin, which includes Orange County and non-desert portions of Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties. Burning wood in fireplaces or any indoor or outdoor wood-burning device is prohibited at any time on No-Burn Days.
Water Safety Notice:
Do Not Drink orders are in effect for neighborhoods near the Palisades fire North of San Vicente Boulevard. Affected zip codes include 90272 and 90402. To provide additional support, LADWP is distributing bottled water to affected customers at two distribution locations:
- Westwood Recreation Center | Tuesday, January 14 from 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM until further notice
- Adjacent to the Brentwood Country Club | Tuesday, January 14 – Wednesday, January 15 from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM
