Latino Pentecostal & Evangelical Leaders Across the Americas Unite in Prayer and Fasting for Immigrant Families During Holy Week

[United States / Americas] — Beginning Sunday, March 29, Latino Pentecostal and Evangelical pastors and faith leaders across the Americas will unite in a week of prayer and fasting for immigrant families, launching the For God So Loved the Immigrant campaign in 85 locations throughout North, Central, and South America.

The initiative, known as the National Fast for Immigrant Families, will take place throughout Holy Week (March 29–April 5), with coordinated prayer gatherings, vigils, and community events held outside immigration detention centers, churches, and public spaces.

The gatherings are organized by Mission Talk, an organization that mobilizes faith leaders and congregations to advance justice, compassion, and community transformation. The campaign is a call to prayer issued by Pentecostal leaders of the Confraternidad de Entidades Pentecostales de las Américas (CEPA), reflecting a unified response from Latino faith communities across the hemisphere.

“During Holy Week, we remember the suffering, sacrifice, and love at the heart of our faith,” said Agustin Quiles, President, Mission Talk.  “We are coming together across nations to pray for immigrant families, believing that every person carries God-given dignity and deserves compassion, care, and justice.”

Throughout the week, pastors and church leaders will gather in prayer for men, women, and children in detention, for families experiencing separation, and for communities navigating uncertainty. Participants will also pray for national leaders and policymakers, asking for wisdom, compassion, and humane approaches to immigration.

“Our faith calls us to stand with the vulnerable and to lift our voices in prayer,” said Pastor Nino Gonzales, Emeritus Pastor Iglesia Calvario Orlando. “This is a moment for the Church across the Americas to come together in unity and intercession.”

What Participants Are Praying For:

  • Compassion and wisdom for national and local leaders
  • Dignity and humane treatment for those who are detained
  • Comfort and strength for families separated by detention
  • Policies that protect children and prioritize family unity

As part of the campaign, churches are hosting prayer gatherings, sermons, prayer walks, and community events, creating spaces for reflection, solidarity, and spiritual action throughout Holy Week. You can see their locations across the Americas here.
