WHAT:

Downtown Santa Monica, Inc. (DTSM, Inc.) invites the community to gather on Third Street Promenade for the 6th annual Día de los Muertos Celebration, a cultural event highlighting the traditional Mexican celebration of life and death on Saturday, October 18 from 2 to 7 p.m. Guests can enjoy live performances, interactive art, children’s activities, a curated Latinx marketplace and colorful art installations by renowned artist Ricardo Soltero. This year’s displays will feature two new large alebrijes, along with Catrina bridal figures, trajineras, archways and interactive art, including a large sugar skull for children to decorate. The Promenade will be decorated with marigolds, a symbol of Día de los Muertos that invites reflection and joy.

New this year, a costume contest will award a prize to the best-dressed Catrina and Catrin, inviting guests to take part in the celebration in true Día de los Muertos style.
